Kaiser Chiefs return once more with a fun disco-pop banger, ahead of a huge UK tour and a new album

Kaiser Chiefs have been indie favourites since their debut albumEmployment’ which released 17 years ago. Impressively the band are still selling out shows to this day. In fact, the band are currently in the middle of a UK arena tour, proving that people are still listening to what they have to say. At this point in their career Kaiser Chiefs can do whatever they want.ย

And as we can see from this new single, this is to make indie-pop bangers with a carefree feel and a funky disco sound. The band know that this isnโ€™t necessarily what we have come to expect from them but as long as weโ€™re having fun with it, they donโ€™t seem to mind: โ€œI hope to hear it at weddings, on the radio, and in the last remaining indie discos across the land.โ€

The track is held together by a funky beat and playful bassline, on top of which a fun synth riff bounce about. Ricky Wilson takes his place as pop frontman and his vocals have all the confidence you would expect from a band this successful. The lyrics are simple and fun, encouraging you to let go of your worries for a bit of pop infused dancing: โ€œI put away anxiety, I just stopped thinking about itโ€.

As Wilson tells the listener, โ€œTonight Iโ€™m gonna teach you how to danceโ€, itโ€™s clear that Kaiser Chiefs arenโ€™t taking themselves particularly seriously. They set out with a goal to create a catchy disco-pop tune and at this they have definitely succeeded.ย
