Bristol sweethearts Langkamer return with country-inspired new single ‘Soul Bucket’
Our favourite Bristolians Langkamer are back with yet another stunning new single ‘Soul Bucket’, following previous single ‘Teeth’. As expected the band have moulded a modern sensibility with retrospective sounds, taking influence from the 60’s and 70’s golden era of rock. Imagine if Steely Dan and Little Feat and Joe Walsh formed a super group, that’s Langkamer.
‘Soul Bucket’ opens with subtle strokes of the guitar, that develop into a waning lick that encapsulates the listener. Soft percussion tickles the ears whilst gentle vocals ease their way through, creating a foot tapping yet mellow atmosphere. There’s a slight country vibe that runs throughout, that hits its stride with the inclusion of a banjo in the second half of the track. As always with Langkamer it’s the poignant, tongue-in-cheek lyrics that take precedence, boasting the bands ability to craft music that is wholesomely relatable.
Langkamer are truly one of the UK’s most exciting bands in recent years, they’re moulding the gap between new and old. Wearing their influences on their sleeve and taking us back to a simpler time. As always, I cannot wait to hear more from the band, who are on a constant upwards trajectory.
