The acid infused hip-hop collective Trvy & The Enemy drop vibey new single ‘Matthew Mcconaughey’
Hailing out of Athens, Georgia, USA is the vibrant and unique sounds of Trvy & The Enemy, a collective that fuses psych and hip-hop with masterful fashion. After a string of high energy performances across their hometown and the release of their debut EP, the outfit returns with their new single ‘Matthew Mcconaughey’.
The track is resembling of other artists such as Action Bronson or Danny Brown, but with a Southern twist. It also leans more heavily into the trippier side of hip-hop by fusing strong elements of psych into their sound, bordering on acid rap. Trvy‘s smart, bouncy, and infectious flow shines throughout, giving the listener constant reason to tune in. Each verse being more interesting than the last and boasting the clear lyrical mastery on display. Trvy is a wordsmith, a poet, and a true character, there is a lot to enjoy lyrically. Sonically, The Enemy (the band behind the beat) bring an almost live sound to the track, which is what seperates this release from other artists in this genre. Not to mention the psychedelic elements that ebb and flow throughout. It’s safe to say that ‘Matthew Mcconaughey’ is a bop and this group of musical wizards are destined for greatness.
