Slacker rock artist Shaky gives us a healthy dose of nostalgia with latest cut ‘Take It Away’

We live in a time where nostalgia is king. Many of us are looking backwards to find something new and I feel there are a lot of reasons for this (that I won’t go into here). It can be a little too on the nose but in some cases it’s a refreshing take on a sound that is deeply reminiscent of perhaps better days. One said example of nostalgia being handled correctly is Shaky‘s latest cut ‘Take It Away’.

Everything, from the music video through to the garage/slacker rock sound that has familiarities with The Strokes brings back visions of the early 2000’s indie-sleaze scene. It’s simple, creative, and wildly infectious, a true track that is destined for the repeat button. ‘Take It Away’ opens with a effortless burst of guitar that takes no time in hesitating to open space for the reverb drenched, Casablanca infused vocals. It’s a fun, straightforward guitar driven single that will have you pining for the past yet also feeling releived that artists such as Shaky are still creating music like this. The world can often feel like a dark place and music like this gives one hope.

Whatsmore, Shaky is a one man project which makes this all even more impressive. He has written, recorded, and fine tuned this single as a solo creative. This also includes the music video which has a 90’s MTV style about it, as if almost a home video. From top to bottom this is effortlessly cool.
