Music composer and producer Ted Taforo has released his new single ‘Island’ featuring vocalist Lenka Shockley. The track conducts an alt-R&B style which reflects the sounds of Little Dragon and Kindness.
Ted is based in Los Angeles where he practices as a multi-disciplinary musician; he is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and experimental composer. His wide skill set has earned him the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award twice in the past. After studying jazz and the saxophone at the Eastman School of Music, Ted went on to attend the California Institute of the Arts in 2010 where he really began experimenting with his sound. With the help of digital audio software Ableton he was able to produce music that mixes jazz compositions with an electronic sound palette.
‘Island’ is an upbeat jazzy song with lyrics that communicate the idea of love being an island (hence the title). On top of the release of ‘Island’, Ted will be releasing his debut album ‘Outside’ later on this year. ‘Outside’ delves into themes such as our relationship with the outside environment, the damage that technology has on our lives and the human perception of boundaries.
The album will be dropping in 2021 through the independent label Future Gods.
