Drummer Patrick Carney calls the duoโ€™s ninth record an โ€œhomage to electric guitarโ€

After a long hiatus The Black Keys are back and have finally announced their ninth studio album “Let’s Rock”. The album is set for release June 28th via Easy Eye Sound/Nonesuch Records (Dan Auerbach label). They have also released the second single ‘Eagle Birds’, a hip shaking, groove laden number that is reminiscent of their older music.

Speaking about the record Dan Auerbach says โ€œWhen weโ€™re together we are the Black Keys, thatโ€™s where that real magic is, and always has been since we were 16โ€. Patrick Carney adds โ€œThe record is like a homage to electric guitar,โ€ We took a simple approach and trimmed all the fat like we used to.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s Rockโ€ includes the previously shared โ€œLo/Hi.โ€ The album was written, produced, and recorded live by Auerbach and Carney at Auerbachโ€™s Eye Sound studio in Nashville. It also features backing vocals from Leisa Hans and Ashley Wilcoxson.
