Today is the last day you can donate towards the project to help those in need during this cost of living crisis

The Cornish Bank is yet again proving why a music venue is an essential part of the community as they crowdfund vai their non for profit restaurant The Bank Canteen. The venue is encouraging those that can afford it to purchase an extra meal which will then be turned into a food token which those in need can access through food bank.

Rufus explained to Cornwall Live that: “People are struggling to pay for the electricity to heat food now, so we’re providing a nice warm space where they can enjoy a meal. Poverty also causes isolation as people can’t afford to go out and socialise, so that’s another reason we decided to do this – to provide a friendly, communal space for people.”

In addition to this, they have also set up a Crowdfunder, which is now nearing £10,000 in funding, with match funding from the Aviva Community Fund and the Co-op Warm Spaces. For just £11 you can purchase two hot meal tickets that will be donated to the Falmouth & Penryn Food Bank, which allows someone in need to enjoy a warm meal, a warm place to eat, matched with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is always on show at the bank.

During this time of belt tightening and callousness from the current Government it is community projects such as this that make us stronger. Strong communities allows for strong opposition, and oppose this current Government we must.

Today is the last day you can donate so please do head to the Crowdfund page and donate what you can.
