The punk/noise rock collective from New Zealand come blaring out with their new single ‘No Ties’, taken from the band’s forthcoming sophomore album ‘Clot’. Available September 25th via Captured Tracks/Flying Nun.
‘No Ties’ boasts the bands cathartic, raw and deeply honest songwriting. Through the moments of calm followed by explosivity you feel the angst that grows in Amanda Cheng. It’s a jagged edged track that carries an air of unease.
Speaking on the track Amanda says “Being a first generation immigrant, Iโve never had a personal connection with my extended family. Thereโs an incomparable loneliness rooted in this โ I think the weight of parental sacrifice and cultural estrangement is difficult for other Kiwis to understand. โNo Tiesโ comes from these frustrations, and the helpless desperation of watching the present-day political confrontations in my other, would-have-been, home.“
