Annie Taylor returns with the grungy, tension-filled single ‘Something Ain’t Right’, ahead of their upcoming third record
Swiss indie band, Annie Taylor, have dropped the single ‘Something Ain’t Right’, along with the announcement of their upcoming third record ‘Out of Scale’, releasing May 22nd.
‘Something Ain’t Right’ kicks in with a jangly, Courtney Barnett-style guitar, before the tone thickens into a heavier, grungier tone. Over the punchy riffs, lead singer Virginia Jungi’s vocals create an air of tension, as her call and response pushes the track into an energetic, catchy chorus.
On the track, the band notes: “‘Something Ain’t Right’ starts with that kind of weird feeling that you can’t shake off. Somewhere between jet lag, passing encounters, and unspoken expectations. The song keeps pushing forward, letting doubt and a sense of being overwhelmed hang in the air, instead of trying to resolve them. It’s about acknowledging vulnerability without getting stuck in it.”
The track follows Annie Taylor’s recent singles, ‘The Ocean’ and ‘Lucidity’ and is part of their upcoming album ‘Out of Scale’, which will be released alongside a launch show at Plaza Zürich on May 22nd. The album and the songs are characterised by intense emotions, chaotic relationships and big dreams.
