Green Man 2024 was nothing short of a sonic delight that offered a variety of amazing music that spanned the genres. However, there are 5 performances that we won’t ever forget
Green Man 2024 was truly one of the greatest festival experiences of our lives, a real gem in a world of over corpertised music festivals. This festival is a last bastion of what a true music festival is supposed to be and long may it reign. The line up this year (and every year) was absolutely bonkers and left little gap for relaxing, it was wall to wall (or stage to stage) with amazing music. However, as you know we must boil everything down to a numerical top 5. So, here are five performances at Green Man Festival that stood out across the weekend.
Getdown Services

Getdown Services have long been making a name for themselves but this performance at The Rising stage was the start of something huge for the duo. They pulled arguably the largest crowd for the stage across the entire weekend, a sight that even seemed to throw them off, as was clear on Ben’s face when he first hit the stage, it was a beautiful sight. Across their set they played a variety of their classics such as ‘Crisps’, to which fans now throw bags of crisps on stage, ‘Cream Of The Crop’, and newer tracks ‘I Got Views’. As always, the energy and comedic value of Getdown Services was of the highest level, with everyone involved grinning from ear to ear.
On a personal level, it was amazing to see, we’ve been following Getdown Services from the beginning, having brought them to Cornwall multiple times to play, and watched them grow as people and artists. There really isn’t a more deserving band than Getdown Services for their new found success and we cannot wait to see what else unfolds for the band.
Osees

Californian psych rockers Osees were our most anticipated band for the festival and they did not disappoint in the slightest. After setting up their entire back line and kit themselves it wasn’t long before John Dwyer kicked things into action with ‘Plastics’, within seconds a flurry of guitar and duel percussion came bursting into the audience’s ears, sending everyone into a frenzy, a frenzy that only Osees are capable of bringing. As the show progressed Osees classics such as ‘The Dream’, ‘I Come From The Mountain’, and ‘Tidal Wave’ entertained the masses, all kicked up to 11. It is further proof to the opinion we hold that Osees are one of the greatest living live bands in recent history and to have gazed upon them in the Welsh Mountains is a memory that will go with us to the grave.
Lime Garden

Lime Garden are another band that we have been following for some time, we actually knew them when they were just known as Lime (not to boast). Since that time the band has grown and evolved into something fantastic, a fully fledged rock band that is really starting to believe in themselves. Normally, there is an element of shyness that comes with a Lime Garden show, or perhaps a lack of confidence. Their Green Man performance saw this fully disappear, it was Lime Garden at their most confident. They played tracks off their recent album, including fan favourites ‘Clockwork’, ‘Love Song’, and ‘Marbles’. As well as older classics such as ‘Pulp’. As a fan it was amazing to see them fully embrace their sound and up their stage presence with guitarist/vocalist Chloe Howard demanding cheers from the jam packed Far Out tent.
Big Special

The Big Special have been on our radar for a while now but we’ve always neglected to fully dive into their music, that is, until we witnessed their Green Man performance at The Rising stage. We had a rough idea of what to expect, a post-punk sound with booming vocals but the raw, unfiltered energy that was on offer was a true surprise. The duo create a sound that is worthy of a full band, bringing hard hitting percussion and arena filling vocals from Joe Hicklin that have similarities to Joe Talbot of IDLES, although MUCH more powerful. Topping this sound off was also the comedic crowd interactions from drummer Callum Maloney, who was constant entertainment.
Personal Trainer

The dutch indie outfit have long been known for their uplifting, fun, and most importantly energetic sets and of course Green Man was no different. The band played to a full Walled Garden stage and put on an unforgettable show. Bringing forward their infectious, soft, yet subtly powerful indie sound to Green Man. As always frontman Willem Smit was a sight to behold as he threw a variety of dance moves, acrobatics, and general big frontman energy. You cannot help but be captivated by Willem and the band in general, with each member having their own personality on stage. What is most impressive about Personal Trainer is the fact, no matter the show, or who they’re playing to, they’re always having fun, it is incredibly infectious. Personal Trainer are a respite in a serious world bringing us something that can make you feel good, it’s masterful musical craftsmanship.
