Texan punks Die Spitz return in true gut-punch fashion as they announce their sophomore record – ‘Something to Consume’

Lead by the raucous single, ‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’, there’ll be no second album syndrome here as the Austin four-piece have flown out of the blocks with their first release on Jack White’s Third Man Records. Produced by Will Yip of Turnstile and Mannequin Pussy fame, the album will be with you on September 12th.

Throw Yourself to the Sword’ is certainly the correct way to start an album campaign as a punk band. Loud, chaotic and a goldmine of riffs and pure noise. The band sound confident and fearless as they look to further etch their name into the ever-growing punk scene.

Speaking on their new release, the band say that this new single is a high energy ode to what they want young people to feel. It’s one of the more optimistic cuts from the album, which looks to rally a willingness to throw oneself into the unknown, rise up and fight, despite the hopelessness we can all be prone to feeling.

Having toured with modern-day icons of their genre such as Amyl and the Sniffers, Die Spitz are only getting started. Their fresh feeling, yet nostalgia churning, sound mixes their punk, metal and grunge influences masterfully, with that opening riff on the new single sounding especially reminiscent of the bands they’ve took influence from – namely Black Sabbath, L7 and Nirvana.

The music video for ‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’ is out today also. Die Spitz’ new album, ‘Something to Consume‘ will release on September 12th via Third Man Records.
