Greg Mendez shares final single ‘No Evil’ ahead of the release of new album ‘Beauty Land,’ out on 29th May

‘No Evil’ is the fourth and final single from Greg Mendez’s new album ‘Beauty Land’. The single joins ‘Gentle Love,’ ‘Frog’ and ‘I Wanna Feel Pretty’ on the new record, expected on 29th May via Dead Oceans.

New single ‘No Evil’ is a gorgeous, stripped back folk track with heavy influence from Elliott Smith. Mendez’s voice is equally playful and mournful, gently jumping around its melody atop soft acoustic guitar and sparse piano chords. Its build is subtle but incredibly satisfying, utilising its minimal instrumentation masterfully in its short runtime.

A lot of the time I feel locked inside my own head, or maybe itโ€™s inside all these screens. Iโ€™m not sure if I can tell the difference anymore,โ€ Mendez shares. โ€œThis song isnโ€™t about that, at least not in the โ€˜aboutโ€™ sense. Itโ€™s not trying to explain or show that in particular, itโ€™s more coincidental. Like how a landscape painting can show the sky without being โ€˜aboutโ€™ the sky. It can just happen to be there.โ€

Greg Mendez is set to tour North America, but keep an eye out for UK dates later in the year.

New album ‘Beauty Land’ is out on 29th May via Dead Oceans.
