Julien Baker & TORRES release emotive new single ‘Dirt‘ from their collaborative country album ‘Send A Prayer My Way’

Julien Baker & TORRES have released ‘Dirt,’ the fourth single from their upcoming collaborative album, ‘Send a Prayer My Way,’ out April 18th via Matador Records.

This intimate acoustic ballad pairs sparse, melancholic instrumentation with raw, unadorned vocals that highlight the duo’s gift for emotional storytelling. ‘Dirt’ explores themes of struggle and redemption with unflinching vulnerability that cuts straight to the heart.

The collaboration dates all the way back to 2016, when the pair first shared a stage, and now, after almost a decade in the making, their creative vision for a country album has finally materialised. While both artists have continued their impressive individual careers — Baker also gaining recognition with indie rock  supergroup boygenius — this project represents a return to their shared appreciation for classic country.

The album beautifully blends influences from alternative country pioneers like Uncle Tupelo alongside legendary icons such as Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. ‘Dirt’ channels this musical heritage through its narrative of characters navigating personal demons.  This storytelling approach has defined the genre for generations, but here it is executed with a distinctly fresh perspective.

Baker & TORRES will embark on their ‘Send A Prayer My Way’ U.S. tour beginning April 23 in Richmond, VA, with additional festival appearances throughout the spring.
