Low Girl craft a quietly self-assured track with latest single ‘Handbrake’ ahead of debut album release in October

Born from frontwoman Sarah Cosgroveโ€™s solo musical endeavours, Low Girl have blossomed into a charming indie pop quartet. The bandโ€™s latest offering โ€˜Handbrakeโ€™ is the quietly self-assured lead single from their debut album โ€˜Is It Too Lake To Freak Out?โ€™, set for release on October 22nd via AWAL.

With a proven knack for crafting big, energetic soundscapes, the instrumentals on โ€˜Handbrakeโ€™ are refreshingly understated. Soft percussion and a delicate flute accompaniment give Cosgroveโ€™s candid lyricism plenty of breathing room, as she muses on escapism and avoidance: โ€œIf I let this reach me / Iโ€™m gonna let it eat me / Letโ€™s go.โ€

Low Girl arenโ€™t here to shy away from themes of guilt and desperation, nor do they seem to wallow in them. Instead, โ€˜Handbrakeโ€™ delivers a dreamy sound, stripped-back but light, which invites us to confront heavier feelings head-on rather than letting them weigh us down.

Low Girl will embark on an extensive UK headline tour this autumn to celebrate the release of โ€˜Is It Too Lake To Freak Out?โ€™ โ€“ โ€˜Handbrakeโ€™ is sure to be a resonant crowd-pleaser.
