‘Covet’ is a charming debut single from Glasgow five-piece Tanzana

If you find yourself slowly stringing together your winter soundtrack like we do, music that keeps you warm in those colder months, then we highly recommend giving this one a listen.

Newly-signed after a few years of dedicated graft, including numerous support slots and festival appearances, the whimsical 5-piece Tanzana have made quite an impression with their debut single ‘Covetโ€™. Released under SO / Hideous Mink, the track is narrated by a haunting female vocal that works seamlessly in tandem with a whirlwind of a bass to create that dark, whimsical feeling that this time of year calls for.

The bandโ€™s self-proclaimed inspiration of nature comes through clearly, with the track easily sounding like itโ€™s meant to be listened to in the middle of some overgrown winter woods. Imagine a darker, more grunge-driven Magdelena Bay – the band convey the same sense of whimsy and boundless yearning, but in a more cut-throat manner. The passion they put across in their song is also heavily reminiscent of Wolf Alice.

With backing from BBC 6 Music already, Tanzana look to have a huge year ahead of them. Although this is their first published release as a band, weโ€™ve got our eyes firmly set on these guys here at CLUNK, and you should too!
