I’m a writer hailing from the distant land of Norfolk. With a deep love for vinyl, currently standing at over 100 in my collection. When it comes to picking a favourite artist, it will always be the sounds of Trish Keenan and Broadcast.
‘Can’t See’ is another excellent offering from Westside Cowboy, a group in no hurry to slow down.
If you aren’t in the know at this point we might not be able to help you, “know what?” you say? Allow us to fill you in.
Despite still being a band in its infancy, it’s easy to imagine that Westside Cowboy landed on the indie circuit fully formed. Across packed out stages at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man and End of The Road, the myth of this group spread like wildfire.
Exploding onto live stages with scintillating guitars and bringing the same energy to their recorded work, Westside Cowboy have taken 2025 by storm, with a string of incredibly well received singles such as ‘Alright Alright Alright’ which was a particular highlight from debut EP ‘This Better Be Something Great‘.
The group are moving forward with serious momentum and have now released the latest single ‘Can’t See’ from what will later be January’s ‘So Much Country ‘Till We Get There’ EP.
‘Can’t See’ is another well-crafted example of the Westside Cowboy chemistry that has quickly seen the group rise as ones to watch. It’s a kinetic, buzzy sounding track that gradually builds its own slice of tension. “You can’t see but you try” is the uniting chant shared between guitarist Reuben Haycocks and bassist Aoife Anson O’ Connell, a duo which seem to be honed into total chemistry.
Speaking around the new single, the group said: “we feel like we fit everything in: a riff, some verses, some choruses, conga breakdown and some other stuff. We like songs that feel like they are going somewhere, cycling, driving, pogoing, but this one’s definitely a runner. Whether that’s towards you or with you, I guess that would be up to the listener to decide.”
With immense backing from indie institutions such as BBC 6 music and lots of adoring fans over here at CLUNK, you suspect that 2025 and beyond will be statement years from Westside Cowboy.
Westside Cowboy‘s latest EP, ‘So Much Country ‘Till We Get There‘, will be released on January 16th.
