‘Pokemon’ is yet another highlight from the weird and wonderful world of Wet Leg as shown by the track’s new music video.
Is the music video a lost art? Wet Leg would strongly suggest otherwise, and with the release of ‘Pokemon’, the odd yet memorable genius that is Wet Leg secure another highlight in their brief history.
The video – directed by Elliott Arndt of Faux Real – who are a frequent tour support for Wet Leg – reveals a story of a person (played by Alice Longyu Gao) in an unusual relationship with a giant egg, a fitting entry into the surreal Wet Leg archive.
‘Pokemon‘ is a story that takes its bizarre influence from the Bjork school of video making. If you thought ‘Army Of Me’ was a mindbender then the ante is upped here to brilliant levels.
The narrative is a alternative mediation on love, with Rhian Teasdale providing an outpouring on the pendulum of love that can so often swing violently high-and-low.
Wet Leg, now standing tall as a five-piece band including Rhian Teasdale, Hester Chambers, Elli Durrand, Henry Holmes and Joshua Mobaraki, have just wrapped their UK & Ireland headline tour, including a thundering show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band head back to the US later this month for a string of further live dates,
