South London’s collective Y continue to create genre-defying tracks ahead of the release of their upcoming EP ‘ENTER‘
Enigmatic London collective Y have shared their new single โDuplicateโ, marking the third reveal from their upcoming EP โENTERโ, set for release May 8th.
A staple in South Londonโs eclectic Windmill Brixton scene, Y are a collective built on friction. Their live shows are a journey of tension and release, forming chaotic parties and an opportunity for fans to really let themselves go.ย
โDuplicateโ continues those themes, clashing a soft melodic acoustic intro into the face of full-force sax squeals and vocal screams. Itโs genre-defying, blending elements of punk, jazz and electro into one tantalising mix.
Speaking on the track, Y added: โโDuplicateโ is a song about narcissists. Control freaks wanting to create a world full of carbon copies of themselves. To echo their beliefs. Just donโt dare fly too high or have an original thought. Itโs a cult mentality. Itโs a con. A mirage of strength in numbers.โ
There are plenty of opportunities to catch Y in the upcoming months, as they head out to play festivals galore alongside their debut UK headline tour in May. If you want to catch something totally unique and let loose, get down to one of these shows:
