2024 is upon us and the new year fear is real but lets distract ourselves with a list of artists we think are going to take 2024 by storm

The new year is here but what’s there to be excited by? War rages in most corners of the world, we, the powerless remain in stasis, and division appears to be everywhere, and the cost of living is truly out of control. However, music and art continues through this strife, these times of post-truth have paved the way for an array of incredible musicians. To distract ourselves from the impending doom of 2024 we want to highlight just some artists that we beleive will take 2024 by storm!

Opus Kink

The raucous brass-infused megalodon from Brighton spent the best part of 23′ touring and building up a riotous fan base thanks to their chaotic live show energy. As we embark on 2024 there is no doubt that Opus Kink are going to continue to build their notoriety with the masses.

Picture Parlor

Picture Parlor are on their way to complete world dominance for a multitude of reasons, mostly their hard hitting rock sound. They’re following a similar trajectory to bands such as Wet Leg and The Last Dinner Party. They’ve toured extensively in 2023 and 2024 will be much the same but hopefully with an EP or LP released. Two songs is just not enough to satisfy our thirst for the band.

The Last Dinner Party

The Last Dinner Party are going to absolutely DOMINATE 2024. We’re not even a month in and the band are literally everywhere. There’s good reason too, they carry a sound that is completely fresh yet reminiscent of the Florence & The Machine peak. The Last Dinner Party are on the cusp of a real movement, you can see it visually. Their fans are rabid for what they’re laying down, dressing like them, dancing like them, and frankly, stanning them. It’s so great to see a fandom building around this incredible band. 2024 is the year they absolutely explode and we’re here for it.

Honesty

Signed to Partisan Records earlier this year, Leeds collective, Honesty, released their debut EP in November 2023.

It is a genre-bending and fluid EP, influenced by electronic music, UK bass, garage, shoegaze, ambient and everything in between. An ego-less collective, the bandโ€™s skill and style shine through, allowing for the most mesmerizing and interesting music to form.

The four piece band emerged unexpectedly out of weekly gatherings at a studio space and embarked on their ever first live performances in the UK this autumn. They have been included in the first round of artists confirmed for SXSW 2024.

Marla Kether

A bassist, producer and DJ from London, Marla has been a session bassist for the likes of Yazmin Lacey, Oscar Jerome, Obongjayar and is currently touring with Loyle Carner as bassist and his support act for the US leg of his tour.

The musician released her debut EP in November which strikes the perfect balance between soulful and joyful. Fusing jazz, afrobeat, global house, and Congolese Soukous and with releases featuring poet Solomon O.B, the musician is an incredibly exciting rising star.

BUFFEE

Manchester based BUFFEE is producer and vocalist Beth McDermott. Following two self-releases in 2021 and 2022, BUFFEE released her debut EP on November 15 via Spinny Nights.

With trippy industrial sounds of avant-pop, BUFFEEโ€™s trademark style is completely distinctive; chopping up and tearing apart, experimenting with the experimental.

Already on several festival lineups for 2024, including Ritual Union, the artist looks to have another good year ahead of her.

Tapir!

Tapir! are a 6-piece folk group from London. They have been drip-feeding their fantastic debut album in small EPs titled as ‘acts’.

The album features the character of The Pilgrim as he explores a mysterious new world and meets a variety of characters. The band’s sound is soft and cosy, carefully crafting a world for their character through their warm instrumentation and poetic lyrics. You can listen to the album in full on January 26th 2024.

Fat Dog

Fat Dog are one of the most talked about live acts of 2023. From multiple festival appearances to the release of their batshit debut single ‘King Of The Slugs’, Fat Dog have lined themselves up to have a very exciting 2024.

Combining post-punk and hard electronic music, they really have found their niche, rising above the sea of London post-punk bands. Their fanbase is wildly devoted, their live energy unbelievably infectious and there is always a guarantee of the funnest mosh pit of your life.

Hypothetics

Bristol-based band Hypothetics are another group who refuse to stick to one genre, instead merging punk, hip-hop and whatever else takes their fancy into a wonderful jumble of sounds.

Their debut EP ‘GETS LET DOWN!’ was a wild ride and immediately showcased the fun character of Hypothetics. We hope that 2024 will see a debut album from the band and that they continue to excite us as much as they did last year.
