Bristol experimental group foot foot announce new EP ‘PREY TIME,’ out on 27th October, alongside new single ‘the garden’

Bristol experimental favourites foot foot have announced their new EP ‘PREY TIME’ will be released on 27th October via Memorials of Distinction. Their first project on the label, ‘PREY TIME’ is the follow-up to their self-released debut album ‘still waters, empty’ house, one of our favourite albums of 2025.

foot foot will be bringing the new EP on the road, with appearances at Cardiff’s Sŵn Festival, Brighton’s Mutations Festival, and appearances in London, Bristol and Birmingham. Lead single ‘the garden’ is out now.

On the single, vocalist Esther shares: “I got the idea for ‘the garden’ after a really bad Hinge date after a really bad breakup. It was written in the winter of 2024, before our debut album even came out. I will always associate this one with cold dark nights and the seemingly never ending rain of an English November.”

Recorded in the basement of Bristol’s iconic Louisiana, ‘the garden’ is characteristically foot foot, blending folk textures with more experimental rock structures. There’s a foreboding feel to the track, its momentum propelled by a tight drum performance, as the track ebbs and flows between various tempos. Soft vocals fit snugly amidst the paranoid instrumentals.

The string arrangements here are gorgeous, bringing a cinematic quality and magnifying the scale of foot foot’s sound significantly. If the band continue to explore this territory on the full EP, we’re excited to see where they can take it. If they don’t, we’re happy to trust them wherever they lead us.
