The Golden Dregs have unveiled their new single, ‘Big Ideas‘—a brooding duet between singers Ben Woods and Issie Armstrong
‘Big Ideas,’ the new single from The Golden Dregs, marks the second release from their forthcoming fourth album, ‘Godspeed‘, set to drop on 25 April via Joy Of Life International and End Of The Road Records.
The track leans into a steady, unhurried sound, giving space for Woods’ raspy vocals and Armstrong’s more delicate voice to intertwine. Measured and understated, it draws you in like a late-night session where every player knows their part—nothing wasted, nothing overplayed. Then comes the chorus—luscious and full-bodied, rising like a tide that swells but never quite breaks.
Lucky for us, The Golden Dregs have announced a run of UK headline shows. They’ll kick things off in Falmouth, where they first formed, on 17 May, before heading to London’s 100 Club on 20 May and Manchester’s YES on 23 May. They’re also set to play Dot to Dot Festival in Bristol and Nottingham on 24 and 25 May, before making their way to Dorset for End of the Road Festival on 28 August.
Onstage, their slow-burn melancholy takes on a different weight—heavier, looser, built for intimate dimly lit rooms or soft sunny stages. Setlists tend to unspool gradually, tension creeping in at the edges before dissolving into something warm, something sprawling.
The Golden Dregs describe ‘Godspeed‘ as an album that pulls at the contradictions of urban life—solitude in crowds, fleeting moments of connection, the strange comfort of anonymity. The arrangements stretch out, making room for more space, more texture, without losing their weight. It’s The Golden Dregs at their most expansive—still quietly restrained, still unmistakably themselves. Like a cresting wave on a Cornish beach that, just as it starts to curl, eases back into the subtle swells we’ve come to know and love.
