Following the success of two previous compilations in aid of the Woman Life Freedom movement, Music for Iran releases the ‘Palestine Solidarity Mix‘
The ‘Palestine Solidarity Mix’ is a wonderful and varied complication of rare and unreleased music from 28 different artists. Coming together in aid of the Palestinian people, the complication is intended to show solidarity and raise money for those fighting for their lives.
The compilation includes tracks from: Beak>, BODEGA, Being Dead, Jacco Gardener, Flamingods, Ada Oda, The Serfs, The New Eves, Aoife Nessa Frances, Tapir!, The Golden Dregs, Holiday Ghosts and many more.
The chosen charity for the third instalment of their complications is ‘The Sameer Project’, a donations-based initiative, working hand-in-hand with people within Gaza to provide emergency aid to displaced families. Helping to provide blankets, tents, food, medicine and water, their work has been overwhelming in the help they have provided for the past 14 months.
Music for Iran, a collaboration set up by members of the band Holiday Ghosts, initially started as a hopeful response to the 2022 Woman Life Freedom movement in Iran and rebellions against the regime. The group have had a powerful impact within music activism circles.
The Woman Life Freedom movement is a movement established in response to the heinous murder by police offers of 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian Jina “Mahsa” Amini. Taken into custody for ‘improper hijab’, Amini was then severely beaten by enforcement officers and later passed away in hospital. The death sparked outrage and began what has now become the Woman Life Freedom movement.
Through the collaborative power of music and the music community, Music for Iran’s aim is to raise both awareness and money to aid the Iranian people struggling under the barbaric dictatorship and gender segregating laws.
The group have previously released two very successful complications of music: ‘Woman Life Freedom Volume 1 & 2‘, featuring big names within the punk and alternative music sphere such as King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard, Lambrini Girls, Calvin Johnson, Colin Newman & Malka Spigel, Katy J Pearson, Penelope Isles, Sports Team,Tess Parks, TRAAMS, Powerplant, King Khan and Alien Nosejob.
