Speedy Wunderground’s Heartworms return with new single ‘Jacked’ in a screeching, stunning track of defiant post-punk rage

Heartworms’ Jojo Orme, has always been open and explicit on her darkened experience in the music industry; the story of navigating between obstacles of racism and sexism adds fuel to her music career. With this in mind, new single ‘Jacked’ packs even more of a punch.

Orme is an unstoppable force of defiant, post-punk with goth and rock influences and, let me tell you, it is both alluring and brilliant. The track builds up the instrumentation, full of reverb and sounds of soothing static, until the melodic guitars guide us through the introduction of the mesmerising vocals.

These vocals sound like a siren-call, drawing me in, and willingly so as I was immersed into this rageful, yet delicately crafted track. Orme’s intensity, despite the delicacy in her vocals, brings something dangerous, yet magical to the table.

The track is laced with the outrage of goth-inspired 80s elements, allowing ‘Jacked’ to become the soundtrack of temptation and revenge, a song with enough urgency to suck you in to explore the rest of Heartworms’ world.
