MJ Lenderman today announces new album ‘Manning Fireworks’, out on 6th September, and drops lead single ‘She’s Leaving You’
Following 2022’s ‘Boat Songs’ and last year’s live album ‘And The Wind’, slacker rock singer-songwriter MJ Lenderman today announces his new album. ‘Manning Fireworks’ is out on 6th September via ANTI-.
You might know MJ Lenderman as the guitarist from the incredible Wednesday or perhaps from his breakout album ‘Boat Songs’, filled with witty lyrics, simple but hard hitting riffs and nostalgic songwriting. With new single ‘She’s Leaving You’, it’s clear he hasn’t lost his touch.
The track tells the story of a man in his midlife crisis, his actions finally catching up to him. ‘She’s Leaving You’ feels instantly classic, as most of Lenderman’s tracks do. The chorus feels familiar in the best way, with the warm guitars and vocal delivery wrapping you in a warm hug, just the right amount of heavy without crushing you.
Recorded in short breaks between touring solo and with Wednesday, ‘Manning Fireworks’ features nearly every instrument played by Lenderman himself. The album promises to deliver ‘everyday anxieties and enthusiasms in uncanny ways’ and sees Lenderman developing into a more thoughtful and steady musician.
