London singer Gretel Hänlyn drops confident and jangly new single ‘War With America’ ahead of huge UK/EU/US Tour

At only 21-years-old Gretel Hänlyn is one of 2023’s most exciting new singer/songwriters. Alongside working on her new album and collaborating with Mura Masa, Hänlyn has played many many live shows and has had appearances at Green Man, Boardmasters, EOTR among other festivals.

This new track, ‘War With America’ was produced by Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, Wolf Alice, Bloc Party) during Hänlyn’s first trip to LA. This seems like the perfect setting for this wonderful end-of-summer jangly pop hit to have been born.

Nostalgic and sunny 70’s-inspired guitars drive the track forward, full of life and always playful. Equally playful are the vocals, with backing singers and group vocals chanting throughout.

Hänlyn’s performance is just as playful too. She really has one of the most unique voices in the indie-pop scene right now and carries the track with confidence and ease. The track has a classic feel to it, making you feel warm and sentimental; it’s the perfect track to round summer off.
