Bleary-eyed, over-worked and under-whelmed? Those jangly indie-pop anthems are nice and all, but they’re not really soundtracking the sit-in-the-corner-and-have-a-good-frown times too well. Moody shoegaze moment? DIIV got ya.
Last week the New York four-piece announced the release of their third studio album, due out on October 4th via Captured Tracks. The Album, ‘Deceiver‘, comes three years after the band’s acclaimed LP ‘Is the Is Are‘.
Have a listen to ‘Skin Game‘ from DIIV‘s upcoming album ‘Deceiver‘:
Ahead of the release, DIIV have revealed shiny new single ‘Skin Game‘. Band member Zachary Cole Smith describes the track as a dialogue that speaks to the experience of living with addiction. “Our last record was about recovery in general, but I truthfully didn’t buy in,” Smith admits, adding that this new single tackles the “personal, physical, emotional, and broader political experiences feeding into the cycle of addiction for millions of us.” Reverb blurred, head-nodding rhythms and a good, brooding soul search ahoy. Give us that new album quick.
