Bristolian newcomers Saloon Dion solidify their premiership with energetic new release ‘Pressure’
It’s no secret that Bristol has become a beautiful hub for music in recent years, bands such a IDLES, Grandmas House, and Katy J Pearson (to name but a few) hail from the city. Now, Saloon Dion can join that list of extremely talented bands to emerge from the port city in recent years. Formed out of previous Bristol bands Football FC, Kimbo Nice, and Ratbags, the bring a energetic blend of surf rock, post-punk, and wonky indie to the ears of anyone near.
The band are only a few singles deep but they’re already making an imprint across the nation, singles such as ‘HEY HEY’ and ‘Deal Or No Deal’ has cascaded them into popularity. They’ve also recently completed their debut UK tour, which saw them play in Falmouth’s Cornish Bank.
It’s no wonder that the good people over at Nice Swan Records have snapped them up and released their latest single ‘Pressure’.
‘Pressure’ opens with a belting riff that quickly paves the way for thunderous percussion, this is promptly followed the by the anarchic vocals of Tom Simpkins which bellow throughout. As the track suggests there is a real boiling point that is felt throughout, as the tension builds and builds, only to conclude at an abrupt halt. Waves of guitars flurry continuously across the 2 minute mark, it’s truly a contagious release that boasts the bands ability to capture a listener in such a short time.
Saloon Dion are just over the starting line and they’re leaps and bounds ahead of the rest, watching these chaps grow is going to be one exciting adventure. Keep your eyes on them, they’re for sure destined for greatness.
