This Is The Kit remind us all why they are a staple of the indie scene with their latest single ‘Skim A Stone’, with seventh album coming January 2027.

A staple to all within the indie-rock scene, This Is the Kit are back for a seventh album, ensuring a personal, yet new place-feeling with their return from a three year studio album hiatus. Led by Paris-based Kate Stables, the band are bringing in fresh faces, from the likes of Tyneside native Richard Dawson, to one half of the French duo Portron Portron Lopez, in Marceau Portron. Inspired by the eerie nature of her new home, โ€˜Ghost Coatโ€™ tries to break the line between what we as people truly see home as, with Kate herself stating โ€œMaybe itโ€™s less to do with a place, and more who youโ€™re with โ€“ people that make you feel like youโ€™re at homeโ€.ย

Kate fully projects this through ‘Ghost Coat”s debut single, โ€˜Skim a Stoneโ€™, in which she tries to break down the reality of wishing. With collaborator Stewart Baxter deciding to shoot the music video as if one was โ€˜practicing at lifeโ€™, the band attempts to home in on the minor rituals and kinks that we as humans possess individually. However, the intimacy one may find in a new, empty house is set to be inverted within the next year, as the band ensues on a tour ranging through the USA, the EU and the UK into October 2027, including an ultimate closer at The (3,000 some capacity) Roundhouse which is ensured to be a historic night.ย

The seventh album from This Is the Kit entitled โ€˜Ghost Coatโ€™ releases January 15th 2027 via Memphis Industries, with the bands newest single โ€˜Skim a Stoneโ€™ out now.
