Isle of Wight’s latest indie talent ugly ozo continues to impress with her dreamy new single ‘cherry’

Ugly ozo has delivered yet again with her latest single from the ‘stargirl’ EP, bringing the kind of dreamy indie music to your ears that the scene needs more of.

Continuing the run of impressive singles released from the EP, the singer has yet again shown that tapping into this dreamy type of music, made popular recently by bands such as Wolf Alice and NewDad, these songs are strictly in her own style and far from a copy of the rest.

Within the song flows a constant beat that makes it hard not to move to, especially when the riff in-between verses kicks in. The vocals stand out as usual and cement themselves as the best part of her music, in my opinion, oozing out talent and never boring you.

There’s a point in the song where it changes to a spoken word vocal which sets up the perfect break before the main outro chorus and gives ‘Cherry‘ that extra bit of emphasis. For me, this section made it all the more memorable after it finished.

Not to spend even more time talking about the singing, but towards the end the backing vocal and main vocal flow together and combine in a way that has you in awe of the quality of what you’re listening to, really displaying not only the talent of the singer but also producer Macks Faulkron.

Ugly Ozo awaits her debut London headline on the 30th of October, as well as a Southampton headline. I can only imagine that those who are lucky enough to be at these shows are certainly in for a treat.
