When news broke that former Fever 333 members Aric Improta and Stephen โStevisโ Harrison were launching their new band House of Protection and had released their debut single โItโs Supposed to Hurt,โ produced by none other than Jordan Fish, expectations were understandably high. The track stormed onto the scene and quickly became a fan favorite, showcasing the duoโs distinctive blend of punk, electronic, and hardcore.
Previously released singles dominate this EP, with four of the six tracks already available for streaming. These songs deliver some of the heaviest moments on the record, creating an electric listening experience. Tracks like โPulling Teethโ skilfully combine rap, pop, and punk, featuring crushing breakdowns and a memorable chorus. Among the pre-released tracks, โLearn to Forgetโ easily stands out as a clear highlight, throwing listeners straight into the chaos, with Stevis and Aric both doing what they do bestโand clearly having a blast in the process.
โBeing Oneโ and โBetter Offโ are where the EP leans more into its hip-hop/electronic influences, offering a slower pace and giving the band room to breathe and experiment. Fishโs influence is evident on โBeing One,โ with electronic elements reminiscent of his work with BMTH. While โBeing Oneโ is arguably the weakest track on the EP, thatโs not to say itโs bad. While it lacks the impact of songs like โPulling Teethโ and โLearn To Forget,โ it functions as a transitional moment leading into one of the EPโs stronger tracks, โItโs Supposed to Hurt.โ
House of Protectionโs Galore is a strong, confident introduction to the world of Stevis and Aric. Each track highlights their creativity and diverse influences, delivering memorable songs that are sure to remain fan favourites for years to come. While the duoโs future direction in regards to their debut album remains uncertain, one thing is clear from their debut EP: expect the unexpected. Whatever comes next will undoubtedly be unique and ambitious.
