New York heart-throbs The Lemon Twigs return with nostalgic single ‘My Golden Years’, the follow up to last year’s ‘Everything Harmony’

With the release of their 4th album ‘Everything Harmony’, The Lemon Twigs dropped their best release to date. For an album so nostalgic, romantic, sentimental and stuck in the past (in the best way possible), it is truly a testament to the the D’Addario brothers songwriting that it was one of the freshest and listenable records of the year.

Luckily, and unsurprisingly, we didn’t have to wait too long for a new release. My Golden Yearsis an optimistic, romantic and suitably cheesy single and the perfect way to kickstart your year.

The track is led by jangly 60s guitars, as bright as can possibly be while never quite crossing the line into overly-sweet territory. The harmonies, as we have come to expect, are as tight and summery as ever. Yes, they sound lifted directly from a Beach Boys track, but, when the melodies are this catchy and the brothers’ voices this angelic, who’s complaining?

The Lemon Twigs have somehow crafted a winning formula, gaining all their inspirations from eras past but never sounding stale. I can’t quite figure out just why this is so addictive but, if they continue to churn out singles like this in 2024, I will be the first in line every time.
