The ever energetic and charismatic KEG return with angular cut ‘Kids’, taken from their forthcoming ‘Girders’ EP

Following the success of their debut release ‘Assembly’ in 2021, KEG are set to return with indie-art-punk EP ‘Girders’, September 2nd on Alcopop! Records/BMG. Angular new single ‘Kids’ allows the seven piece to test the waters for their upcoming release.

With rattly rhythmic guitars and an all-round outburst of unique instrumentation borrowed from outside influences, ‘Kids’ is smartly digressive while simultaneously a disguised introspection.

Speaking of the single KEG explain, “I’ve always had a great relationship with my mum, but there were occasional times where I remember her saying, โ€˜I love you loads, I just don’t like you very much at the moment.

Throwing social norms on their head in lyrical quips, ‘Kids’ features a host of references for if your kids liked un-child-like things like Michael McIntyre and Itsu. Put bluntly by the band as “a nice radio friendly song about hating your offspring.” So much so that the irony behind the lyric “isn’t it hard being signed to Rough Trade” just feels routine for this band.
